Some people may have seen a hydrovac truck, but didn’t know what it was, or what it was used for. These trucks usually have a very large, collapsible arm on top of them. This arm extends and is used to pump highly pressurized water in the place where you need a hole to be drilled. The arm also has a built-in vacuum function which extracts the dislodged material from the drill site, leaving it clean and ready for any intervention.
You can think of a hydrovac truck as an oversized vacuum cleaner that also has a wash option. The main difference is that you do not use it to clean on a horizontal axis, but on a vertical one. These trucks also come equipped with large containing units that can store the excavated debris, and safely remove them without making a mess.
One of the main advantages of a hydrovac truck is that it is very easy to use in any circumstance. This truck uses water instead of any other mechanical option to dislodge material, resulting in less debris that needs to be removed. That’s because the water also dissolves a great proportion of it, making it easier to extract.
