Potholing seems like a straightforward enough job, but it can get pretty complicated sometimes. To ensure its success, make sure you prepare the site properly and that you can offer at least some information on where your utilities might be located.
The first thing you want to do is dig up any official documents that can provide some clue as to the location and positioning of utility lines that may have been installed and run underneath the property long ago. Any information can be useful, since it will give the experts a place to start so that you won’t need to waste much time with utility potholing Florida services before starting your actual project.
Clearing the area of any equipment or materials that could hinder the digging process will also be a good idea. Moreover, before the hydrovac truck arrives, it would be great to clear a path for it, so that more time will not need to be wasted with that, too.
Once you’ve done all that, it’s time to simply get out of the way and let the experts do their work. The potholing process is fairly simple, involving the making of a small hole through which water is channeled under pressure to reveal underground utilities without damaging them. Once the pipes and cables are found, and the potholing process can determine the direction they’re headed, it will be entirely easy to resume your excavation project without damaging the utilities, or if possible, to remove them and relocate them to a new place.
