Should You Use Hydrovac or Vacuum Excavation?

Conventional excavation is a challenging job that involves many risks related to worksite safety as well as to the integrity of the underground utilities.

Vacuum excavation is a modern technology that eliminates most of these risks, being the best alternative to traditional digging methods. And yes, it is very effective for any project that involves digging and removing unwanted soil or other debris from an area.

The utility potholing Florida has to offer is safe, highly precise, and environmentally safe, as it only uses the power of water and air. Besides, considering that it will not damage the underground utilities, there is no risk of leakage of hazardous substances.

Common applications include locating underground utilities, daylighting, removing soil and debris from around sewers, dry potholing, etc.

When it comes to vacuum excavation, you have two options: hydro and air excavation. What you choose depends on the soil or material to be removed. Hydro excavation uses high-pressure water, which is more aggressive than air and therefore works on any type of soil and on the frozen ground (water can be heated!). As for air excavation, it works best on not-so-compacted soil. Besides, the excavated material remains dry and can be dumped back easily (reused to fill the hole).
